Back to School Driving Safetylogo

Schools are open again and the Belvedere Police Department would like to remind everyone to drive carefully, especially around the schools. The Belvedere Police Department will be providing extra patrol presence around the schools, especially around drop-off and pick-up times at Reed School due to construction in the area.

Safety tips to keep in mind when taking/picking up your child:
•    Plan ahead and allow extra time to deliver your child to school
•    Young children may dart into path of cars, so watch, watch, watch!
•    Don’t assume that your child is safe in a crosswalk; tell them to stop and look both ways, if not accompanied by a crosswalk guard.
•    Be familiar with school zones and speed limits at your child’s school.
•    Do not let your cell phone, palm, or other wonders of technology distract you from the primary goal:  the ultimate safety of your child and other children.
•    Motorists must obey all traffic laws and speed limits.
•    Be sure to stop for school buses that have stopped to load or unload passengers.
•    When you are backing out of your driveway, be sure to watch for kids hurrying to school, either walking or on their bikes.

We take many things for granted in our daily routines: our jobs, families, and health.  A blunder caused by rushed, careless driving could alter many lives, so slow down, and drive carefully!

Tricia Seyler, Police Chief

The sixth annual Tiburon Art Festival returns to Historic Ark
Row on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 26, with juried

PLEIN AIRE COMPETITION

Local artists have been selected to paint "in the open air" at Fountain Plaza on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Jurors will choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for cash prizes. The artwork will be displayed from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday. The artwork will be available for purchase in a silent auction on Ark Row. The Tiburon Peninsula has many talented artists, so be sure to take advantage of this show.

NEW THIS YEAR - ITALIAN STREET PAINTING

Italian Street Painting (like they used to do in San Rafael) is coming to the Tiburon Peninsula! In addition to the Art Festival on Ark Row and the Plein Aire contest at Fountain Plaza, artists and spectators can enjoy street painting on Beach Road. Starting Saturday morning, August 25, artists will use pastel chalk to draw in their assigned square on Beach Road in Belvedere.

Children as well as adult artists are welcome to reserve a square. Call the Belvedere-Tiburon Joint Recreation office at 435-4355 to reserve your square. Spectators should plan to visit the street a few times to watch the progress, and it's free!

Come see the fantastic variety of art and enjoy food, music and family entertainment at the Tiburon Art Festival.  For more information, contact Cathleen Andreucci - (415) 435-4355 or visit the Art Festival website.

In partnership with the Town of Tiburon and the City of Belvedere, Marin Transit spent several months conducting a transit needs assessment to evaluate existing services on the Tiburon Peninsula, identify new and emerging mobility needs that fall outside of current transit service options, and craft practical strategies for meeting these needs.

The study focused on Tiburon, Belvedere, and Strawberry  and engaged a wide variety of community members and existing transit riders to obtain valuable input on their specific transit needs.

To view the full DRAFT report, visit the Marin Transit website page at Marin Transit Projects in Process
