Notice of 2017 Street Sealing Project

2017 Slurry Seal Map
California Pavement Maintenance Company (CPM) is under contract with the City of Belvedere to provide slurry sealing of certain streets for this year’s project (see slurry seal map below). To minimize the impact to residents and essential services, the slurry work will take place over the course of two days, one lane per day. The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, September 27th
  • West Shore Road - Richardson Bay side
  • Golden Gate Avenue – west side of street

Thursday, September 28th
  • West Shore Road - inner/ hillside lane
  • Golden Gate Avenue – east side of street

Existing pavement markings will be removed on streets to be sealed during the week of Sept 14th – 15th. Streets will remain open during removal work.

CPM will be delivering notices as the construction date approaches with additional instructions for parking vehicles outside of the work area.

Streets to be sealed will be posted “No Parking” 2 – 3 days in advance.

Road Closures may start as early as 7:00 AM. We hope, with reasonable drying conditions, to be able to reopen sealed streets by 5:00 PM. Please take note of times on posted road closure signs.

Pedestrian access will be eliminated on Golden Gate Avenue. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please do not allow water to run onto the pavement during slurry sealing work.

Weather conditions may cause schedule changes.

WHAT IS SLURRY SEAL?
Slurry Seal is an asphalt sealcoat that is a very economical surface treatment that prolongs the life of the asphalt by stopping erosion of the pavement and oxidation from the sun. Timely preventative maintenance like this helps avoid very costly street rebuilding in the future.

We realize the inconvenience caused by limiting access to your street. Please consider that the inconvenience caused at this time is very small compared to what would later be required if this protection were not applied.

Driving or walking on this new material before it has cured will damage the street and will stick to your shoes, be splattered up onto your car, and will track onto concrete driveways, carpets and floors. The material is highly adhesive but can be removed from vehicles with tar removers available from local auto parts stores. Read and follow the directions from any products purchased.

Emulsion aggregate slurry seal coat will be damaged by sharp turning during the curing phase. This can be avoided by making wide turns. Always be sure the vehicle is moving before turning the steering wheel.
