Department Goal
In cooperation with the residents and the community of Belvedere, the Public Works Department strives to develop, maintain, and improve the city’s public infrastructure at a safe, efficient, and dependable level of service.

It is the department’s goal to provide the citizens of Belvedere with the highest standard of public facilities consistent with sound engineering practices and fiscal responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities
The public works manager and three maintenance workers manage and maintain the city’s network of roadways and public rights of way, buildings, parks, storm drain inlets, and numerous other public facilities.

Public Works staff duties include:
  • Cleaning and maintaining more than 250 storm drain inlets and basins throughout the year
  • Maintaining the public rights of way
  • Maintaining vehicles and equipment
  • Performing pedestrian walkway maintenance
  • Replacing traffic signs and markings
  • Responding to after-hours emergency call-out response during inclement weather
  • Sweeping 13 miles of streets monthly to comply with state and federal stormwater requirements
  • Weeding and trimming landscaped areas
