Belvedere Police Department
In 1897 the then town Marshall, Marshal Mc Lean, was paid $20.00 a month in addition to "…such fees as he may be entitled to for the service of any process or for his services as pound keeper…". Marshall Mc Lean then appointed Frank Crosby as his Deputy Marshall. Marshall Mc Lean was directed to procure a star and two pairs of handcuffs for Deputy Marshall Crosby.

It goes without saying that the Belvedere Police Department has come a long way. The Police Department currently has one Police Secretary, five Officers, one Sergeant and a Police Chief. The Police Department currently has computers in vehicles which allow for wireless communication with the Department's dispatchers, California Department of Justice and Federal Department of Justice agencies. The Department was the first Law Enforcement Agency in Marin County to deploy Automatic Early Defibrillators (AED's) into the community via the Police Officers.

The Belvedere Police Department holds a high regard for the quality of service, the commitment of its personnel and the respect it receives from the community. In that vein please tab through this portion of the City's web site to get answers to frequently asked questions, forms that can be down loaded, links to other web sites, neighborhood alerts for criminal activity and programs the Police Department provide to the community.
