Crime reports are released in accordance with the California Pubic Records Act, Government Code Section 6254(f). Copies of releasable reports may be obtained at the Belvedere police Department, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday excluding holidays.

How can I view the Megan's Law Sex Offender Database?

California law, commonly referred to as "Megan's Law", requires persons convicted of specified crimes to register with the police jurisdiction in which they live as "Sex Offenders", and for those police agencies to report to the State certain information about that individual that is maintained in a statewide database. State law further provides an opportunity for members of the public to view the contents of that database for the following:

Registrant's name
Registrant's aliases
Registrant's photograph (if available)
A list of the registrant's scars, marks, or tattoos
The offense(s) for which the registrant was convicted
Registrant's county of residence
Registrant's zip code

The Megan's Law Sexual Offender's Data Base is maintained for the City of Belvedere by the Marin County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office is located in the Marin County Civic Center's Hall of Justice, 3501 Civic Center Dr., Room 145, San Rafael, CA. To view the Megan's Law Database, you must

Be 18 years of age or older
Provide a California Driver's License or Identification Card
Sign a statement that you are not a registered sex offender; that you understand the purpose of the release of information is for the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders; and that it is illegal to use the information contained in the database to harass, discriminate, or commit a crime against any registrant.
State a distinct purpose for viewing the database.

How do I get a parking permit for the 2 hr. preferential parking area?
You must be a resident of the City of Belvedere.
The vehicle must be registered to an address in the City of Belvedere or you must provide proof you are a resident of the City of Belvedere.
You must fill out an application for each permit you wish.
You must pay a fee of $20.00 for each permit.
Stop by the Police Department and contact one of the Police Department's personnel.

Where do I go to get my fingerprints taken for application purposes?
If the agency who is requesting you provide your fingerprints for a background check requests the fingerprints be "Live Scan" then contact the Marin County Civic Center's Hall of Justice, 3501 Civic Center Dr., Room 145, San Rafael, CA, 499-7286, to make an appointment. If the agency provides you with a fingerprint card please contact Police personnel at the Belvedere Police Department.
