From the City Manager
Craig Middleton

It’s May, and a wonderful time for being out and about in Belvedere. We’re excited to have a great lineup of talent for Concerts-in-the-Park (see announcement below) this year. And we’re hoping that, as you walk about town, you’ll take in Belvedere’s unique network of Lanes. It is the Council’s hope to encourage investment in Lanes through an initiative that is proposed for funding in the budget that will be considered at next week’s Council meeting.
The Lane Initiative signals an intention to provide city funds over the next five years, and to encourage community participation in augmenting those funds, in order to invest in new Lanes and refurbish existing Lanes. The Parks and Open Space Committee has identified Eucalyptus Lane as a top priority for new lane development. It is a gorgeous spot, with sweeping views of the bay and headlands. We certainly welcome your thoughts and participation, as we roll out the Lane Initiative in coming months.
Also, as you get out to enjoy the spring weather, please keep an eye out for dry brush and dead trees that might pose fire hazards during the dry months. The City and homeowners have removed a number of dead trees in the past several weeks, and the City will be focusing on removal of dry brush on public lands in preparation for summer. Please take care to make your own property as fire safe as possible, as that will also help keep the community safe.
