Dear Belvedere residents, The City's appointee to the Richardson's Bay Regional Agency has asked that I pass along word that there is an important matter of interest to Belvedere residents coming before the RBRA Board on August 12. At that meeting, the RBRA will consider a proposed agreement to settle certain outstanding matters between the RBRA and the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission. The proposed agreement requires, among other things, the RBRA to clear Richardson Bay of all permanently occupied vessels and houseboats by October 2026 and also to take a number of steps related to protection and restoration of the Bay’s eelgrass habitat. While the agreement will likely be helpful in focusing the agency’s efforts on a policy that is broadly supported in Belvedere, a number of elements in the proposed agreement could have significant effect on the RBRA’s finances and those of our City. Citizens interested in learning more about this issue can review the agenda package for the next RBRA meeting and find the Zoom link to attend here. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM Thursday, August 12.
