9am-noon Clean & Green Activities

Noon-2pm Belvedere Community Foundation Anniversary Picnic

 

Come together with your neighbors for a day of Belvedere pride and beautification.  

 

We will be polishing up our neighborhoods and celebrating 20 years of community giving.

 

Volunteers are still needed for clean up projects and for the anniversary picnic.

 

PROJECTS AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

Community Park/Playground Clean Up- This is a great activity for families with children. Meet at the playground anytime between 9am-noon and help us scrub the playground equipment and sift the woodchips out of the sand box.

 

Picnic Set-Up and Take-Down- Come help out between 11am and 2pm at the Belvedere Community Center.

 

Centennial Park Perk Up- Join us between 10am and noon as we plant, prune and sweep this beautiful park on Hawthorne Lane between Bayview and Bella Vista. Bring your work gloves and a rake, pruners, or broom.

 

Five Points Weeding- The intersection at the corners of Belvedere, Golden Gate, Oak, Britton and Pelican Point is planted with rosemary that could really use a spring weeding, ask your neighbors to join you between 10am and noon.

 

Oak mini Park Weeding- Many of drive by this lovely spot everyday admiring the lavender and sage, please come by this pocket park on Oak at Bella Vista between 9:30 and 11am and help us keep this park looking its best.

 

Belvedere WayLavender Pruning- This garden was recently landscaped and only needs the lavender pruned to be ready for spring. Please bring your work gloves, pruners and hedge clippers. Belvedere Way is the sloped park at Belvedere Avenue and Belvedere Way, come between 10am and noon.

 

Lane Clean Up- Belvedere has a history of citizen led Lane Clean up days. Join us on Sunday as we revive that tradition. We will be pruning any branches that obstruct the stairs, and giving the stairs a top to bottom sweep. To participate in this activity please come to one of the stair lanes listed below between 10am and noon. Please bring work gloves and pruners or broom.

 

McLean Lane, Pagoda Lane, Woodland Lane, Cedar Lane, Hawthorne Lane, Trans Pac Lane, Woodwardia Lane, Park Lane and Golden Gate Circle, Holly & Corinthian Lanes

 

Tom Price Park Litter Brigade- During the windy winter months a lot of debris gets caught in the berry bushes at Tom Price Park and along the north east side of Lagoon Road. Meet at Tom Price Park, Lagoon Road entrance across from Maybridge at 10am and help your neighbors with this litter brigade bring garbage bags and gloves.

Making Tracks for 2011 Walk Your History

The City of Belvedere, Town of Tiburon, Belvedere Community Foundation, Tiburon Peninsula Foundation, Belvedere-Tiburon Recreation, and Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks have again joined forces to bring you
This year there are two sponsored walks through Belvedere and Tiburon.  Each walk is dotted with Living History Docents at Historic Hot Spots in both communities.  The walks begin and end at Belvedere Community Park and culminate with a picnic lunch, music, and fun!

The Belvedere Loop will focus on the historic Belvedere Golf Course and Club House.  The Tiburon Loop will highlight the China Cabin, the Boating Clubs, Miwok Indian Shell middens and Old St. Hilary's!

China CabinHonoring 1st Japanese Colony to Arrive in America - Special Display - throughout April at the China Cabin

The Belvedere Tiburon Landmarks Society will be displaying an exhibit that tells the story of the first Japanese colony that sailed to America on the paddle steamer China in 1869.  Gold had been discovered only 20 years earlier, and California was now the frontier of opportunity.  The original colony of eight farmers, craftsmen and Samurai came from Japan's Aizu-Wakamatsu colony.

As previously reported, on March 31, the Japanese Consul General will be attending the opening of the Landmarks 25th Anniversary Celebration at the China Cabin. The month of April is dedicated to the first Japanese immigrants who arrived in California on the S.S. China. The Belvedere-Tiburon Landmarks office is collecting checks and will present all donations directly to the Consul General during his visit to the China Cabin.  If you would like to make a direct donation, please drop your check off to Belvedere City Hall or the Landmarks Office on the Boardwalk. Checks should be made directly to the "Consulate General of Japan" with a memorandum to "Attention: Japan Earthquake Relief Fund."  (Cash contributions are not accepted.)

Flood Insurance and The Lagoon

As most Belvedere Lagoon property residents are aware, you are required to have flood insurance if you have a federally backed mortgage or line of credit. National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) premiums are paid annually through your property insurance carrier.

Historically residents paid an annual "preferred rate" of $300 - $400 based...

 

 

Lyford Drive Parking Lot Project
IS Lyford Drive Town Planning Division Requests Public Comment on Project

The Town of Tiburon Planning Division requests public comment on a new multi-modal parking lot in the location of an unpaved, informal parking area adjacent to the bicycle path along Tiburon Boulevard, at the intersection with Lyford Drive.  The potential impacts of the project on area traffic, parking, aesthetics and other environmental resources has been described in a draft report entitled, "Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Lyford Drive Multi-Modal Parking Lot."  

A copy of the report is available at Belvedere City Hall and Tiburon Town Hall.  The deadline for comments is April 13, 2011 and comments received after that time may not be considered.  For more information, please contact Pierce Macdonald, Planning Manager at 415.435.3838.

Easton EIR County of Marin Requests Public Comments on EIR

The County of Marin Community Development Agency is requesting public comment on the development of 32 to 43 homes on land known as Easton Point in unincorporated Tiburon. 

A review of the potential impacts to existing traffic congestion, plants, animals, normal noise levels and other environmental resources have been described int eh draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project.  The draft EIR is available at Belvedere City Hall and on the web at http://www.co.marin.ca.us/depts/CD/main/comdev/eir.cfm.

The deadline for comments is April 29, 2011 and comments received after that time may not be considered.

Library Expansion Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report - Request for Comments

The Town of Tiburon is requesting comments on the planned 19,990 sf expansion of the Belvedere-Tiburon Library.  The expansion project includes new library amenities, patios, 52 parking spaces, relocation of Zelinsky Park, lighting and landscape changes.

UTILITY POLE REMOVAL:  Beginning the week of March 24, PG&E is expected to begin wrecking out the utility poles on Bayview Avenue.  Road closure details are still being worked out in an attempt to lessen the immediate neighborhood impacts.  It is likely that while work progresses, PG&E will have "moving" road closures.
