SMART Train Workshops Scheduled For February |
|
SMART Train Workshops
The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District will host a round of community workshops to receive public input on the design of stations along the new passenger rail line.
SMART staff and design consultants will present information about the progress of the project in general and more specifically, the design of individual stations and station components. The workshops will focus on stations within the planned Initial Operating Segment of the project, from Railroad Square in Santa Rosa to Downtown San Rafael.
This segment is slated to begin passenger train service in late 2014. Other segments of the 70-mile project will be built as additional revenue becomes available. The first presentation will occur as part of the District's Board of Directors meeting at 1:30 pm February 16 at the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Chambers in Santa Rosa.
Subsequent workshops, and the stations that will be covered will be:
- February 22 - Santa Rosa City Hall - Railroad Square Station
- February 23 - Petaluma Community Center - Downtown Petaluma and Corona Road Stations
- February 24 - San Rafael City Council Chambers - Marin Civic Center and Downtown San Rafael Stations
All workshops begin at 5 pm and end at 7 pm. For more information, visit sonomamarintrain.com.
