Tiburon Triathlon THIS WEEKEND!
Belvedere Community Park
Sunday, July 31 @ 6:30 am
The twentieth annual Tiburon Triathlon will take place this Sunday beginning at 6:30 am with check-in. The course is a half mile swim (not measured, so it varies from year to year), a nine mile bike, and a two mile run.
Participants will arrive at 6:30 a.m. at Belvedere Community Park to check-in. The swim is a loop course beginning and ending at the San Francisco Yacht Club. Participants will be divided into five waves, color coded by swim cap.
After participants finish the swim, they emerge from the water and run through a grassy chute across a timing pad. From the Yacht Club, participants run on pavement about two blocks to the Park. As they enter the Park they will jump on their bike and head out the other (i.e., north) end of the bike transition area.
Leaving the bike transition area, participants will ride briefly on Community and Leeward Roads before turning right on San Rafael Avenue toward Tiburon Boulevard. Just before Tiburon Boulevard, participants will make a sharp left onto the bike path. After the water treatment plant, the bike path takes a sharp, gravelly right turn. The bike path stops at Tiburon Blvd. where participants will cross onto Trestle Glen. The only climb on the course is a half-mile rise to Hacienda. From there participants will turn right onto Paradise Drive which will take them back to Tiburon Blvd., Beach Road, and Belvedere Community Park.
The run course begins in the same bike transition area - Belvedere Community Park. The runners move out onto San Rafael Avenue following the same course as the bike route. Before reaching Tiburon Blvd., runners will turn right on Lagoon Road, which then becomes Cove Road. At Beach Road, turn right and then will transition onto Teal Road to return to Belvedere Community Park.

Everybody Loves A Parade!
Tiburon/Belvedere Main Street Parade
Labor Day Weekend - Sunday, September 4 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm
The 2011 Main Street Parade will be more fun than ever!
Belvedere Tiburon Recreation is livening up this year's
event with the theme "Life on the Bay." Consider creating a themed
float that represents what "Life on the Bay" means to you. Get a group
of neighbors together, teams, clubs, a neighborhood, family and friends
and come strut your stuff!
You can decorate bikes, trucks, scooters, wagons, or even
you pet! Do a little dance or whatever makes you smile! This year,
there will be prizes for best floats and entries, as well as a formal
grand stand in front of which your group can perform. We will even
create a memorable DVD of the day's grand stand groups that you can
purchase after the event.
PLUS! This year there will be balloons, face painting,
food, and drinks along Main Street and at the terminus of the parade,
Belvedere Land Company Mini Park at San Rafael Avenue and Beach Road in
Belvedere.
For more details and an application to join the fun, visit the Recreation website, send them an email, or give them a call!
