Climate Action Plan
A Guide to Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Assembly Bill 32 focused California's attention on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions. Local governmental agencies were mandated to address GHGs by adopting strategies for their reduction.
The City recognizes that climate change has the potential to significantly affect our residents and businesses, as well as California's rich and diverse natural resources. California rose to the challenge by mandating that all California's GHG emissions be reduced to 1990 levels by the year 2020. In order to do our part, Belvedere's residents, businesses and local government will need to work together to reduce emissions from transportation, buildings, and waste.
In 2011, the City Council approved its "Climate Action Plan." This plan provides a roadmap for our community and local government to cut emissions to the 1990 target (about 15% below current levels). Achieving the goal will require a reduction of approximately 2,800 metric tons of GHG. Specific local measures to reduce community emissions include, but are not limited to: improving energy efficiency in buildings, the use of electric vehicles, solar systems, food waste diversion, and more!

Marin Village - Kick-Off Event
Kick-Off Party, Belvedere Community Center
Sunday, October 30 from 4 pm to 6 pm
Serving Belvedere, Tiburon & Strawberry
Marin Village - Neighbors helping Neighbors
Stay Home | Stay Active | Stay Connected
Working with a parent organization, Marin Village, the Tiburon Peninsula Village (TPV) is dedicated to providing Tiburon Peninsula residents with the varied resources they require to remain, safely and confidently, in their own homes as they age. All Tiburon Peninsula residents (Belvedere, Tiburon and Strawberry) who join Marin Village automatically become members of TPV (Tiburon Peninsula Village) at no extra charge. Tiburon Peninsula Village, has been recruiting members and a growing team of volunteers, some of whom are also members. These volunteers are available to help members with occasional transportation needs, provide assistance with daily activities, and run errands. To request assistance from a TPV volunteer, call the Marin Village central number (415) 457-4633. The office will match your request to a volunteer in your neighborhood. TPV is developing a program of classes, events, and social activities and will keep members informed via email updates, or mail.
The goal is to help seniors stay in their own home or apartment, stay active and stay connected. TPV is neighbors helping neighbors - a very low cost alternative to for-profit groups. The " virtual village concept" has spread across the country but TPV is not part of any national organization. TPV is run completely by local volunteers with administrative functions handled by two paid employees who cover all of Marin County from the Marin Village office. In the Bay area, San Francisco, Sausalito, Berkeley, Ross Valley, Homestead Valley have already established "villages" with more to come. The basic idea is to have vetted volunteers help with shopping, rides to appointments, dog walking, computer help or whatever small errand is needed. TPV also offers members a list of screened professionals, many of whom offer discounts. Members hire the professionals on their own as needed. Member to member recommendations are another benefit.
TPV is having their "Kick-off Party" at the Belvedere Community Center on Sunday, October 30 from 4-6pm with appetizers, beverages, acoustic guitar music and a tango demonstration. Of course, there will be information on the benefits of becoming a member along with an opportunity to join. Annual household membership is $200 per year with scholarships available.

Upcoming Doyle Drive Closure
Weekend Closure of Doyle Drive will impact Golden Gate Bridge Traffic
As part of the construction phasing for the Presidio Parking Project, Caltrans will close Doyle Drive for a weekend this fall, which will result in severe impacts to traffic traveling across the Golden Gate Bridge. As a result, Golden Gate Transit will offer modified bus schedules during the closure to best meet the needs of the communities. However, major delays are anticipated. The weekend closure is expected to occur in fall 2011. Caltrans has not yet announced the dates or times of the closure.
The weekend closure will allow traffic to shift onto the newly completed southbound structures and temporary bypass. During the closure there will be no access to Highway 101 from Marina Boulevard/Richardson Avenue and the public is encouraged to choose buses, ferries, alternate routes, or car-free activity.
For more details about the Doyle Drive Project, visit www.presidioparkway.org.
