Marin Greek Festival.jpgSenior Access Named as Beneficiary of 2012 Marin Greek Festival

Senior Access, an innovative program that provides a mix of expressive arts, entertainment and personal care to persons with memory loss and respite for families, has been selected as the beneficiary of this year’s Marin Greek Festival.

The Marin Greek Festival, now in its 41st year, is a Marin favorite. Staged on the hilltop at the Nativity of Christ Church in the Ignacio hills in Novato, more than 6,000 guests enjoy everything Greek – dance performances by the award-winning Minoan Dancers, cooking demonstrations, Byzantine chanting, and of course, authentic Greek food. This year, Senior Access has been selected to be the recipient of 5% of net proceeds from the Festival.

“We wanted to support seniors this year and found the perfect partner with Senior Access,” said Rose Hunter, one of the Festival committee members. “Then we found out we have an even deeper connection with them, and knew that Senior Access was the best choice.” Coincidentally, Amalia Haginicols, the head chef for the Festival, is the owner of the Redwood Café that provides nutritious lunches daily for The Club at Senior Access.

The Club at Senior Access is Marin’s favorite social club for folks with memory loss, providing expressive arts, music, exercise and a nutritious lunch Monday through Friday.

“What a stroke of good fortune!” exclaimed Cris Chater, Executive Director of Senior Access. “We are thrilled to be chosen as a beneficiary of this year’s Marin Greek Festival.”
The Marin Greek Festival will be held on May 25 – 27 at the Nativity of Christ Church located at 1110 Highland Avenue in Novato. Free parking and shuttle service is provided. For more information on hours, performances and for the best Greek food EVER, go to www.maringreekfestival.com

Senior Access is Marin’s favorite social club for folks with memory loss. The program is a mix of expressive arts, entertainment and personal care provided by professionally trained staff.

The Club at Senior Access reduces isolation and helps maintain physical, cognitive and emotional health of the person with memory loss and provides much needed respite for caregivers.
