An encroachment permit is required any time work is performed within the public rights of way (ROW). This includes any work or portion of work taking place in the ROW, including replacement, excavation or repair work on driveways, sidewalks and the street. In addition, work on private property that requires delivering, moving, storing or staging equipment, tools, materials, debris boxes, tree work vehicles, and so on within the ROW requires an encroachment permit. An encroachment permit is also required any time an oversize vehicle will be used on the streets of the Island portion of the City. Applications for encroachment permits can be made online here.
