At the June 9 City Council meeting, council members learned that the Mallard Pointe developers had signed a cost recovery agreement with the City of Belvedere — allowing the planning staff to begin reviewing the various permit applications the developer has submitted. The first step in this review process involves identifying any incomplete or missing elements in the applications. Also, at the City Council‘s request, Director of Planning and Building Rebecca Markwick will hire a special independent project manager to oversee all aspects of the Mallard Pointe project.
Council members heard a presentation from Mill Valley Refuse informing the community that there will be a slight ($2.01 per month) cost-of-living increase starting in July 2025. The good news is that plastic clamshells can now be recycled in the same bin with bottles, cans, and other containers! Visit the Mill Valley Refuse website to remind yourself what items go into which bin.
Belvedere recently experienced a cybersecurity incident at City Hall. Upon discovery, staff took immediate action to secure our network, protect city data, and began the restoration process. An investigation was also initiated looking into the cause and scope of the incident, and a professional third-party forensic firm has been engaged to assist. As the investigation moves forward, City Hall will continue to enhance its security measures to help protect city data in our care.
We want our residents to know that Belvedere places a high value on maintaining the integrity and security of digital information, and we continue to keep the public’s best interest in mind. Police and City Hall operations have continued, and thankfully, each city division experienced only minor setbacks. City Hall hours of operation haven’t been impacted.
