Police Department Update
To address the recent staffing challenge, City Manager Zadnik reported that he is contracting with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office to provide interim night shift coverage for up to six months. Belvedere’s Police Department is also actively recruiting for Reserve Police Officer positions. Reserve officers would be available to replace officers out for training, illness, or vacation. Additionally, Chief Wu and the Belvedere Police Officer Association are exploring a more formal nighttime coverage partnership with the Tiburon Police Department.

Housing Element on Track for Approval
The City Council is pleased to report that Belvedere’s Housing Element has been tentatively approved by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), pending the city’s adoption of several required zoning updates. These updates relate to Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), Objective Design Development Standards (ODDS), and several minor housing-related ordinances. In a first step to achieving substantial compliance, the council adopted Belvedere’s updated ADU ordinance at its August meeting. The City Council is committed to adopting all the required zoning changes by the end of the year.
