Today, Belvedere City Manager and Mayor were cc’d on a letter to Caltrans from Assemblymember Damon Connolly, urging the agency to reconsider the inclusion of bike lanes in the Tiburon Blvd Capital Preventive Maintenance Project. Connolly—initially supportive of the bike lanes—listened to the voices of Tiburon Peninsula residents who participated in a letter-writing campaign to amplify the concerns raised by the City of Belvedere, Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Alliance, Reed Union School District, and Marin Transit. His letter urges Caltrans to rethink the bike lanes, most pressingly between Blackfield Drive and Trestle Glen, and to engage with local stakeholders to develop a safer, more balanced approach.
We thank Assemblymember Connolly for his leadership, for listening to local voices, and for understanding the importance of prioritizing safety, especially for children, in Tiburon Boulevard’s redesign.
