Under the leadership of Chair Charlie Harrington, the Parks, Open Spaces and Lanes Committee (POSLC) is following its mission. At their June 12 meeting, the Committee was updated on the progress of creating a database that identifies all lanes and assesses their condition, value for evacuation and safety, and other benefits for the community. They also learned that work to reconfigure and rebuild the stairs on the lower part of Park Lane will begin on Monday June 16.
POSLC also heard an update on a proposed small viewing platform cantilevered off Belvedere Avenue on the city-owned parcel known as Artist‘s View. The proposed platform would allow community members walking on Belvedere Island to pause for a moment to safely enjoy the view. The project would be funded by a Proposition 68 grant, which includes the requirement that it be ADA-compliant. The Committee endorsed the project, which will now be presented to the Planning Commission at their July 15 meeting.
