Three Small Changes with Big Impacts for Earth Month

The City of Belvedere is moving forward with an item in our Climate Action Plan — replacing one of our gas-powered Public Works trucks with a new electric vehicle – not only reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, but also saving the city thousands of dollars in gasoline.
What are you going to do to make a difference this Earth Month? Here are three ideas:
1. Skip Single-Use Plastics
Grab a reusable water bottle or coffee mug before you head out the door, and keep washable, cloth grocery bags handy for shopping. Re-use is a great strategy to prevent microplastic pollution and landfill waste.
2. Fill Up Your Green Bin
Make sure that all your food scraps, food-soiled paper and yard waste make it into your green curbside compost bin. Not only is composting a simple way to reduce waste, it’s also the law in California.
3. Visit a Refill Station
Get familiar with the bulk food section and refill stations at your local grocery store. Buying dry goods, laundry detergent and toiletries in bulk eliminates excessive packaging and minimizes plastic waste.
