About the Council

The City Council has five members. Elections are held on the date of the statewide general election in November of even years. The mayor and vice mayor are chosen by vote of council at the regular City Council meeting following the certification of the election and they serve for one year in that capacity. Council members serve a four-year term. There are no term limits.

The council members divide between themselves the appointments as liaisons and voting members to approximately 22 community, municipal, county, and regional committees and agencies ranging from recreation and traffic to finance and insurance.

Statements of Economic Interest

The five City Council members are identified in Section 87200 CGC as filers of statements of economic interests. Copies of these statements of economic interests may be obtained by visiting the office of the Fair Political Practices Commission (428 J St., Ste, 620, Sacramento, CA 95814) or the office of the City Clerk (450 San Rafael Avenue, Belvedere, CA 94920). Statements of economic interests for some state and local government agency elected officers may be available in an electronic format on the Commission's Internet website.

Compensation of Elected Officials

Elected Officials in Belvedere are not compensated for their service, however they are included in the City's reimbursement policy (PDF), Chapter 28 of the Administrative Policy Manual.
