ONE BOOK BELVEDERE 2020-2021
We are happy to announce that Belvedere resident Carol Benet has offered to facilitate pro bono our first One Book Belvedere program, for which participants will be reading “Caste – The Origins of Our Discontents,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author, Isabel Wilkerson. The program is open to all. If you are interested in taking part, please rsvp to bhaener@cityofbelvedere.org.
Carol Benet, drama and arts critic for the ARK newspaper, is also a well-known leader of book study groups throughout the Bay Area. She has taught and lectured at the University of California, Berkeley, as well as other colleges and universities. With a B.A. in English, M.A. in French Literature, and Ph.D. in Comparative Literature -- and, as an author herself -- Carol will invite critical thinking and fresh perspectives on the writer’s craft, as well as the provocative content of this timely book.
A live event will be hosted for all participants on February 7, 2021. The venue will depend on the number of participants, the status of COVID-19 gatherings, and possibly the weather. Meanwhile, just curl up in a warm place, and begin reading. You can purchase the book at any bookstore, or on Amazon here.
We look forward to taking this literary journey together. Come join us!
